Connected Futures: The Science of Building Social Capital for High School Students (Free)
This course helps students learn and practice important skills to identify and connect with adults in their lives. Research shows that this course can improve students' academics and well-being.
This four-session course helps high school students learn and practice skills to identify adults in their lives, reach out to them for support, and build strong, diverse networks. Students complete real-world activities from a Connected Futures Toolbox and are encouraged to practice skills with family members or friends who can support their accountability.
Adapted from the college version grounded in Schwartz et al. (2023) and Raposa et al. (2024). Draws on social capital theory (Lin, 2001; Coleman, 1988) and wise intervention research on expanding youth networks. Developed through a partnership between CEBM and Professor Elizabeth Raposa (Fordham University).
