You’re about to try something called a Single-Session Consultation. It’s a short activity that helps you think about something that’s been on your mind and take a small step in a better direction. Research shows that even one 20–30 minute session can help people start to feel a little more hopeful and less stuck. You don’t always need weeks of support to begin feeling better, sometimes one good conversation makes a real difference. This activity works best when you do it with someone you trust. Think of a mentor, teacher, parent, or another supportive adult you might be able to work with. Together, you’ll choose something you want to work on, imagine what things could look like if they improved, and come up with one small, realistic step you can take next. Instead of spending the whole time thinking about problems, you’ll spend most of it imagining possibilities. You’ll also make a clear, specific plan, because research shows that concrete plans make it more likely you’ll follow through.
