The Cover Letter

A cover letter is a document that is sent along with a resume and job application. Cover letters serve as an introduction to the job applicant, and allow them to highlight their relevant skills, qualifications, and experiences that make them a suitable candidate for the position they are applying for.

The cover letter is also a tool for the applicant to express their interest in the job, describe why they would like to work for the company, and explain why they would be a good fit within the company and team.

Components of a Cover Letter

When writing a cover letter, it is important that students are able to tie in how their past experiences will help them in the role at the company in the future. Just like resumes, cover letters will also look different from person to person and from role to role. Keep reading to learn more about the essential things to look for as you begin reviewing student cover letters.
