Identifying and living in line with my values

How often will I revisit this information to make sure that I’m still using the skills?
This seems like a really good thing to review at the beginning of every semester – each semester is a fresh start, and I think it is important for me to consider what’s most important to me as I start each new academic period.
Why is it important for me to review this information?
I learned that it was really helpful for me to understand what’s most important to me. By identifying my values, I was able to make choices about the types of activities I did throughout the semester. And, when I stuck to my values, I felt a little less stressed because I knew that I was doing what’s important to me.
What will I review? (these might include your notes, screenshots, handouts – anything)
At the start of every semester, I’ll review the “What are your values?” handout to see if my values have changed since last semester. I’ll also go over some of the questions that I wrote down on the handout.
How will I remember to review it?
I’ll create an event in the calendar on my phone for the beginning of next semester. That way, I’ll get a reminder. I’ll create a new event at the beginning of each semester that I’ll be in school. Once I get the reminder, I’ll put it on my current to do list so I’ll do it between homework assignments.
How will I hold myself accountable for reviewing it?
I’ll put it on my to do list once I get a reminder – I’m good about doing the tasks on my list!
What are the action items to do as a result of this plan?
- Add reminder to my calendar at the beginning of each semester that I plan to be in school
- Save the values handout and my notes to a place on my computer that I won’t forget about
Rethinking stress
Select each question to read the answer.
How often will I revisit this information to make sure that I’m still using the skills?
I’ll review the thinking traps list every month
Why is it important for me to review this information?
I realized that my thoughts fall into a lot of those traps – it was really helpful to see that my brain might not be telling me the truth
What will I review? (these might include your notes, screenshots, handouts – anything)
I’ll review the Thinking Traps handout and the notes that I took. I’ll ask myself if I’m noticing any thoughts that are causing me a lot of stress, and then I’ll follow the steps from the Rethinking Stress lessons.
How will I remember to review it?
I’m going to write it down in my calendar to review every month
How will I hold myself accountable for reviewing it?
I’ll ask my roommate to do it with me every month – that way we can help each other remember
What are the action items to do as a result of this plan? How can I make this plan as easy for myself as possible?
- Talk to my roommate to make a plan
- Add the dates to my calendar so that we remember to do it
You are almost done!
