Lesson 1, Topic 1
In Progress

Experience 5

Starting college as a first-generation college student was very scary. I had no idea what to expect and felt lost in the world of academia. I knew I wanted to do well in my classes and be involved in campus extracurriculars, but had no idea what that could look like or how to achieve it. After a little while, I realized that I needed to step out of my comfort zone to find opportunities to meet others and explore my academic interests. I enrolled in a course I was interested in taking, but heard from other students that it was difficult. While I was very nervous at first, I realized that the professor really cared about my success in the class and was willing to make time to support my learning. The professor became an important mentor to me, and gave me support throughout my college career, and we’re still in touch today.
